008 What is InfoMarex?
- InfoMarex is a language translation agency
which handles projects for its own clients world-wide.
- InfoMarex is also a database of translators
and agencies world-wide.
- InfoMarex is a business registered in the
Republic of Ireland, number 143258.
- InfoMarex's Valued Added Tax (VAT) Number
is IE2682225B.
- As a private DataBase, we
store translators' data and match them to InfoMarex projects which
arise. Such data are NOT in the public domain and never leave our
database.
- Translators and Agencies may add their
details to our database by going to InfoMarex's main web page.
- As a database of Translators
world-wide, we store and index under some 70+ headings in our archives a
Curriculum Vitae (CV) / résumé of each translator and match it to
translation projects.
- All translators on our database of
Translators must have, at least, two years' professional
experience in translation.
- As Clients and
Agencies world-wide can access the database for specific
language pairs, our translators are quickly found.
- InfoMarex's clients consequently can search
our database for the language pairs they need and contact translators
and/or Agencies directly.
009 InfoMarex's Terms of Business for
clients
- The following is an abridged format of
InfoMarex's Terms and Conditions of Business.
- A full copy of these terms may be
downloaded in Adobe Acrobat portable document format [pdf] by clicking
on Terms and Conditions.
- Invoices to clients are payable upon
presentation or by agreement at 30 days at the latest. Invoices may be
paid by bank draft, money order, credit card or by secure electronic
transfer as indicated on each invoice and by links on the Services
webpage of the InfoMarex website.
- Invoices are sent in electronic format
attached as MS Word documents. Should a client require an invoice in
hard-copy by mail / ordinary post, such an invoice must be requested
specifically.
- InfoMarex's business is conducted by eMail
subject to the laws of the Republic of Ireland and voluntarily observes
the Code of Practice of the Irish Translators' and
Interpreters' Association.
- Work is carried out to the specifications
and deadline of the client. Amendments to the original work order will
always carry an equal amendment to the original deadline.
- Delays occasioned by general Internet
and/or web failure, acts of God and nature such as tornadoes causing
power outages, or the unforeseen sickness or hospitalisation of a
translator, inter alia do not invalidate a job order and its
deadline is extended accordingly.
- Any dispute in matters of payment or
otherwise will be presented before an Irish court.
- As the Republic of Ireland is a member of
the European Union (EU), EU law may also apply.
010 How does InfoMarex work to serve the translator, the
client or the agency?
- By eMail attachment.
- We rarely, if ever, get hard-copy (paper)
or faxes for translation and, in this day and age, we actively
discourage same.
- The client sends us a job specification by
eMail as to what is needed, indicating language pair, type of text, a
rate or budget where known and a deadline.
- We check the DataBase and contact the
appropriate translators to see if they are free and willing to work on
the text at their stated database rate and to the agreed
deadline.
- Alternatively, the client can use the
database directly and contact translators directly by eMail.
- We never ask translators to work for less
than their stated rate in the database.
- We do NOT haggle with translators as
to their stated rates in the database.
- InfoMarex offers the translator what is
stated by the translator in the database as the rate per target word for
1,000 words of general commercial text.
- Where the translation work is obviously
more technical, we get a specific rate from the translator.
- Within hours, we are able to give a precise
reply to the client, as to who is available or not.
011 How does the translator get paid by
InfoMarex?
- InfoMarex normally pays its translators at the
completion of a translation project:
- in the currency and manner specified by the
translator, but normally in € or US$;
- by electronic bank transfer;
- by international bank draft;
- the full agreed fee;
- where an electronic funds transfer is made,
all bank transfer fees (i.e. those of sender - InfoMarex, and of the
beneficiary - the translator) are paid by InfoMarex.
012 Where can a translator create a WebPage for
FREE?
- With your CV / résumé to hand in electronic
format, go to the ProZ or ForeignWord websites and
literally, in 10 minutes, you can create your own CV website by
copying and pasting in the details of your CV / résumé.
- We always recommend that translators have
at least a simple but professional webpage of who they are and the
services they offer.
013 Can any translator get on the database of
Translators?
- Only those who
* have a minimum
of two years' professional experience, * have added
their basic data to InfoMarex's DataBase and * be forwarded
their Curriculum Vitae (CV) /résumé to InfoMarex as
a MS Word (.doc or .rtf) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) attachment.
016 Why does my name not appear when a database search is
done by a client
or agency?
- Are your details actually in the database?
Details and data entered would have been confirmed by an eMail to you.
- Check the database by very simply asking
for your Password.
Click on the underlined word Password.
- If your data are in the database, you will
receive your Password. If not, you are told that your data is not in the

language pairs. Have you entered that specific language pair?
017 What do I do if I have only one year's
experience?
- At InfoMarex, we ask people to have at
least two years' professional translation experience before
coming on the database.
- Without that experience you won't do
yourself justice and you won't do justice to what the clients want.
- First and foremost, write up a good
CV-résumé.
- In order to gain experience before coming
on our database, join various FREE mailing lists which offer jobs
such as Jobs for Translators by clicking on the following

WebSite links and language pairs, etc., can be updated at any time by
simply going to the InfoMarex website,
clicking on Translators - Existing, and by putting in your
Username AND Password you can access and

- Your basic data and your CV particularly
should be re-viewed and updated at least TWICE a year.
- Your updated CV / résumé, can we forwarded
to us at any stage as an MS Word .doc or .rtf attachment to InfoMarex
019 Why was my membership of the database not
approved?
- Either, you did NOT enter your data
in the database at InfoMarex
- Or, you do NOT have two or more
years' professional experience
